Welcome to my blog! This is where I share my thoughts, insights and advice on a variety of subjects related to healing, well-being, alternative therapies and more, based on my experiences as a healer and teacher for more than 20 years. There may also be the occasional rant, if so I’ll try to make it an informative one (or at least entertaining).

I’d also like to give a bit more background information on myself so that you have an idea of the sort of approach that I usually take:
All of my life I have had an over-abundance of fiery energy. Before I started practising mindfulness techniques and then Reiki, this fire energy manifested in very negative ways: a very hot temper, impatience, agitation... basically, I was burning up and burning out! I hadn’t yet learned how to balance this energy, but I started thinking “Energy is just energy. If this fire energy can be destructive and harmful, then it must also be possible to use it for growth and healing.” This is true, but also much easier said than done! Mindfulness techniques helped a bit, but I had way too much anger and frustration tied-up in my past and my progress was slow (much too slow for someone as impatient as I).
Learning Reiki was truly life-changing for me (yes, yes, I know how clichéd this sounds!). Reiki gave me the tools I needed to really start my process of self-healing. After my first month of practising Reiki self-healing, friends started to remark upon the clear and positive changes that were occurring: I was happier, looked better, felt better, my insomnia of the previous 9 years was gone... and most amazing of all, I wasn’t losing my temper all the time. I knew that I still had a long way to go on my healing path (now I realise that the path of healing and learning just keeps on going!), but I also knew that I was discovering ways of using my abundance of fire energy in very positive ways.
Shortly afterwards, I had a client who practised astrology and as a payment for the healing session, she offered to do my complete astrological chart. I had never had this done before, but out of curiosity I accepted her offer of exchange. It was intriguing to find that I am a triple fire-sign... her explanation of what this meant sounded like the story of my life. For me, this was confirmation that I was on the right track in pursuing ways in which I could balance my energy and also find positive ways in which to channel the excess fire. Hence the name, Healing Fire.
In doing private healing sessions, I prefer to take an approach that will achieve results as quickly as possible. In teaching courses, I like to see all of my students use what I teach them in order to empower and better their own lives. My approach is definitely one of action, although I don’t push or force anything or anyone (as this would be an unbalanced expression of fire). I like to question things, take new paths and try new approaches, continue growing and discovering and assisting others in doing the same on their own chosen paths.
