Yearly Forecast: 2017

Hello Everyone,

This Forecast for 2017 is based on Numerology, Chinese Astrology and Western Astrology. As you read on, it is interesting to note the common themes amongst these three types.

The energy of 2017 is “Yin”, or feminine (as opposed to last year’s Yang energy). This makes for a more harmonious year, with far fewer “dramas”. During a Yin year, it is best not to rush into anything. Instead, carefully consider choices before taking action. Although there are a lot of opportunities for growth in all areas of life, do not push too hard or force any issues. The growth we will experience will happen steadily, so it will also be a year for some to develop patience.
According to numerology, the year 2017 vibrates to the number “1” (2+0+1+7= 10, 1+0= 1). A “1” year represents the beginning of a new cycle, a time to “plant the seeds” of growth and set goals and intentions that will influence your life over the next 9 years. This affects every area of life: relationships, career, health, spiritual progression, finances, lifestyle etc., so I strongly recommend taking the time to carefully reflect upon each of these areas (and more!) and creating clear visions/intentions on where you would like to see yourself throughout this next 9-year cycle, changes you would like to make, dreams and goals that you want to make a reality etc., and then create a clear strategy for achieving these. Remember that the foundations you build and intentions you make in 2017 will strongly affect the next 9 years of of your life!

On the positive side, during a year with a “1” vibration we can expect to experience the following:

  • A powerful year to start new projects.
  • Progress (“1” is the most powerful number for this).
  • Great potential for spiritual advancement and transformation.
  • Breakthroughs.
  • Shifts in old, outmoded ways of being on a personal, global, political and economic scale.
  • Action.
  • Great potential for success in all areas where there are goals and a focus of energy.

On the negative side, if a person is not balanced, refuses to recognise or learn lessons (especially ones that arose in 2016) and has no interest in changing themselves, they will face many challenges this year and even over the next 9-year cycle! Those who resist change and cling stubbornly to old ways of thinking and doing will encounter continuous obstacles and disharmony. If you find that you are being “blocked” in any area of your life, it’s time to take a step back and reflect upon how YOU need to change in order to restore harmony. On a global scale, expect to see established institutions and ways of doing things fall apart. These changes are for the better and allow the chance to start again and build something much more positive, but for those who resist change, these events will throw their lives into chaos.

For those who have trapped themselves in negative patterns, these will be amplified (just as those who are living in a positive way will find that these areas are greatly empowered). For example, selfish people will behave even more selfishly, aggressive people will be even worse, so be aware of this in yourself and others. If there are any “toxic” people in your life, it’s time to create some distance. Remember, we can be compassionate and offer love and assistance to others, but if a person doesn’t want to change they just become very draining and hurtful.

The key to success this year (in whatever areas you are working on) is staying focused, determined and organised. Be aware that there is big potential for problems in the things/areas of life that are overlooked or neglected. In order to avoid this, keep careful financial records and receipts, be sure to nurture relationships and express appreciation to others, and KEEP YOUR EGO IN CHECK! A “1” vibration can tend towards selfishness and egocentricity, so get into the habit of taking a step back and seeing situations from the perspective of others. Regarding plans, ask yourself how others can also benefit. Keep yourself grounded and focused and remember the importance of regular meditation and grounding practises.

According to Chinese Astrology, this year we will be entering the Year of the Rooster on the day of the New Moon on January 28th. 2017 is the year of the Red Fire Rooster and it continues until February 15th, 2018. With the Fire element, if everything is in balance this energy is very empowering but if unbalanced, it can be destructive (burning yourself and others, getting “burned out” etc.). Imagine a controlled fire versus an out-of-control, raging one. So this year calls for a controlled, continuous use of energy. You will need to WORK STEADILY, keep your FOCUS on your goals and be PATIENT in order to reap the rewards of great success this year. This New Moon also starts the month of the Tiger (in Chinese astrology, each month is “ruled” by a different animal), which makes for a very strong and energetic beginning to the lunar new year.

In Chinese astrology, the Rooster has the positive characteristics of honesty, good communication, ambition, independence, quick-thinking and a generous spirit. No matter when you were born, it is worthwhile to examine these points within yourself and make changes or adjustments in order to strengthen them:

Work well with others but avoid depending on them too much
Be honest, live with integrity and avoid all “shady” dealings, no matter how tempting (obviously, this is good advice to follow all the time, but be especially aware of it this year)
Express yourself clearly and LISTEN to what others have to say
Have clear goals (whether big or small) that you can continuously work towards

As with all of the signs of the zodiac. The Rooster also has some negative characteristics, such as impatience, selfishness, being critical and also being enthusiastic about new projects/things but then becoming bored or impassive soon afterwards. So this year, if you find that you are encountering difficulties or blockages, try to do the following:

  • Examine whether or not your actions and goals benefit others as well as yourself
  • Focus your energy on achieving one or two goals at a time, rather than many. This is not the year to “multi-task”.
  • Practise being PATIENT
  • Finish what you begin! If you have difficulty with this, it’s time to ground your energy and focus it on where it is needed (instead of scattering it all over the place!)
  • Practise your listening skills! The Rooster year also has potential for big arguments and clashes of egos. Do your best to avoid these by listening to what others have to say, expressing yourself clearly (and without being harsh!) and recognising when the real issue is the ego, rather than the situation itself.
  • Practise gratitude daily

It is also said that this coming year is a good one for one’s career and financial investments, but timing is everything. Be patient and take action when the time is right, rather than rushing into anything or acting on sudden decisions. Remember that this year is about working steadily, working hard and building foundations. Nothing should be rushed!

All types of relationships are well-aspected for this Rooster year, especially because of the “Yin” (female) energy that supports these. This year, make more of an effort to spend time with family and friends. It’s also said to be an auspicious year for marriage, romantic relationships and pregnancy. Business relationships and partnerships have great potential for being fruitful, but don’t make things too complicated by over-thinking or over-analysing. Another aspect of relationships is the one which you have with yourself: this is a great year to take time for solitude, to look within, to heal and grow, to love and appreciate yourself in the same way that you love and appreciate others.

Although it is necessary to have a personalised, detailed astrological reading in order to have more precise advice, Feng Shui practitioners advise the following, general advice which can apply to everyone, regardless of astrological sign:

  • As the element for the Rooster year is Fire (which is symbolised by the colour Red), avoid wearing/using this colour in your clothes, accessories and surroundings. Instead, use colours that complement the element, such as Earth-coloured items (brown, yellow, gold)
  • White and green are said to be “unlucky” colours this year.
  • Purple and lavender are said to be “lucky” colours
  • Amethyst and topaz are good stones to wear/work with this year
  • Dragon is predicted to have the best year out of all the animals of the Chinese zodiac
  • Rooster, Snake and Ox are expected to have an excellent year
  • Rat and Tiger should have a good year
  • A mixed year for Sheep, Pig and Monkey
  • Rabbit, Horse and Dog are predicted to have a challenging year

However, whatever the prediction for your given animal of the Chinese zodiac, keeping a positive attitude and maintaining your focus are key in overcoming obstacles and achieving success this year.

According to Western Astrology, 2017 is a year of moving forward steadily (rather than the highs and lows that punctuated 2016). It should be an interesting year, with traditional beliefs being challenged like never before, breakthroughs in technology and politics, and an overall theme of overhauling the establishment. We have been experiencing so much change, we can only look forward as there is no turning back at this point. Issues can no longer be ignored and will need to be resolved, both on a personal and global scale, through change, transformation, action or even upheaval.

On a personal level, more energy needs to be put into making the world around us a better place. Take time to reflect upon how you can do this within your own life. There is good potential for everyone to experience a year of growth and self-discovery, as well as success within relationships and business, but (as already discussed in Chinese astrology and Numerology, above) it is essential to stay focused, have clear goals and work steadily.

In Western Astrology, each of the 12 signs is assigned to one of the four elements: Earth, Water, Fire and Air. Following are predictions for 2017 according to the elements:

Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn are ruled by the Earth element. In 2017, people born under these signs will experience a focus on work/career and finances. So as to maintain a balanced state, make sure that you remember to nurture your relationships and take regular time to rest and recharge.

Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio are ruled by the Water element. This year, those born under these signs will experience a focus on family matters, domestic issues, personal life and property. Expect some challenges and work in these areas, but the good news is that the positive results will be quite rewarding.

Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are ruled by the Fire element. In 2017, those born under these signs can expect to discover new opportunities! The main focus will be on responsibilities, career and the ability to increase earning potential. As long as one maintains balance, there should be improvements in all of these areas.

Aquarius, Gemini and Libra are ruled by the Air element. This year, those born under these signs are predicted to experience great “highs” in their love life. There will also be an emphasis on communication and realising that listening is just as important as talking. Remember that the key to progress this year is connecting with others, so work on establishing and strengthening connections.
To sum up all of these forecasts, we can see a common thread running through all of them: we can expect 2017 to be a year of steady progression, change, new beginnings and laying the foundations of future success. So create your goals now, be focused and patient and work steadily (on all areas of life). Remember the importance of maintaining balance and grounding so that you can tap into the true potential of the coming year. Take time to connect with the Earth, spend time in nature, exercise, meditate and practise your energy work… and see how wonderful you can make 2017!
Wishing all of you a fantastic year of growth, love, abundance, fulfilment and prosperity.

Many blessings and a very Happy 2017,
Chantal

Energy Forecast for the Year of the Sheep

Energy Forecast for the Year of the Sheep

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to my Energy Forecast for the Year of the Sheep (or Year of the Goat, as some refer to it).  Here I will be discussing what we can expect during this Sheep year, plus information on what Western Astrology and Numerology has to say about it.  It’s quite interesting to note the parallels here! Please bear in mind that this is a general forecast for everyone, but if you would like exact information relating to your Chinese astrological sign, it’s a good idea to consult a practitioner of Chinese astrology (or you can check out the information to be found in books and online).  Feel free to share this article as well as your thoughts about it.  Enjoy!

Chinese-New-Year-2015

The element associated with this particular Year of the Sheep is “wood”, and as this year is the last of the Fire cycle after Horse, we have a potent mix of Fire, Wood and Earth.  The colour associated with the Wood element is green, so this is considered to be a “lucky” colour this year.  As Sheep is the 8th animal in the order of the Chinese Zodiac (and “8” is considered to be a very lucky number), this year is also considered to have great potential for luck and prosperity.  In terms of which animals of the Chinese Zodiac will benefit the most this year, it’s going to be very lucky for those born in the years of the Sheep, Rabbit and Pig but it should be a fairly good year overall for the other animal signs, too.

It is said that if you have been working hard over the past two years, this is the year when you see the results of your labours.  If you have been experiencing difficulties for the past couple of years, then this year you should see your fortune change for the better.  This year of the Sheep is a “Yin” (or female) year, so this energy supports the creation of “something from nothing”.  In order to achieve your goals and great success, it is important to find a new approach in how you do things and be prepared for slow (yet steady) growth.  Be patient and don’t rush into things, the element of Wood supports the careful analysis of situations followed by practical solutions.

Sheep is a herd, or group, animal.  This tells us that teamwork will be very important this year in order to achieve success physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.  Don’t be afraid to ask for help and make sure that you also offer your help to others.  Get together with others regularly and spend more time enjoying yourself with others, too!

The energy in the Spring (end of March) can be challenging to many as we will be pushed to let go of old patterns and move forward in fresh, new ways.  Remember the importance of releasing that which no longer serves your higher purpose, be it habits, relationships, patterns etc.  Letting go of these things allows new and positive energy to flood into our lives!  Don’t allow yourself to get stuck in the emotions of fear or anger as this energy is heavy, negative and creates stagnation.  Instead, allow yourself to experience transformation by expressing gratitude daily, practising forgiveness, taking responsibility for your situation and actions as well as maintaining your honesty and integrity.

By the time summer rolls around in June, the energy will be lighter and brighter, supporting optimism, enjoyment, creativity and innovation.  Just remember to stay grounded and don’t get too carried away!  If you find that it’s been all work, take time to relax and do more of what you enjoy.

In the autumn it’s quite likely that political and religious conflicts can become worse, but remember that Sheep is calm and supports group efforts.  Rather than focusing on the differences between others, focus on what you have in common.  In order to overcome conflicts, focus on rational thinking, “one-ness”, and working together as a group/community.  You may also find that at this time you are being pushed to resolve relationship issues, specifically “toxic” relationships.  By taking positive action and ending these relationships (or ending/healing the negative patterns), you’ll find new and positive relationship energy coming into your life.

Remember that those who are true will stand by your side.  Be strong and focus on work and service to others, which will further increase the positive energy in your life.

As we near the end of the year, the energy should start to feel much more settled, allowing everyone to feel more secure.  By now, you should be reaping the rewards of your patience, planning and hard work.  It is said that there will be a major shift in energy in January 2016, so get ready for something new and wonderful!

Western Astrology

In Western Astrology, the sign of Cancer is associated with the Year of the Sheep.  Cancer is governed by the Water element, so this energy is feminine (Yin), gentle and emphasises the intuition and the emotions.  Notice that this also “agrees” with the Yin properties of the Sheep year.

In Astrology, it’s agreed that for the past few years we have been pushed towards change, revolution and transformation.  In 2015 this rapid change continues, but the main message is this:  “Great lessons bring great rewards”.   These lessons are said to be due to the strong influence of Saturn, the planet of responsibility, discipline, realism and lessons (sometimes harsh ones!).   These lessons are necessary in order for us to learn, let go of the “old”, grow, and transform.  If you find that you are experiencing great challenges in any area of your life this year, it’s time to step back and reassess the situation:  it’s time for a new approach, the creation of new strategies and using self-discipline in order to reach your goals.  This influence of Saturn can even cause us to feel hopeless at times.  In these situations, remember that “it’s always darkest before the dawn”.   Again, use your self-discipline:  stay focused, stay grounded, change your approach and keep the energy moving!

Saturn is also about reforms, so we can expect traditional institutions to be challenged in this way:  governments, religious institutions, education, business, family etc. will face situations that will force them to change…or collapse.  Remember that “what we resist persists”.  If these institutions are unwilling to change and reform, their difficulties will only worsen.  This also applies to each of us!  There are big lessons to be learned on every level.

However, it’s not all bad.  There is also some great energy coming up!  The influence of Jupiter brings some great potential for “luck”, creativity, health and wellness, enjoyment with those around us and greater emphasis on service to others.  It pushes us to look around and ask ourselves where we can make a difference, both for ourselves and for others.  Jupiter has an expansive energy, making us feel like anything is possible.  Again, stay focused (don’t get carried away by the energy!), make strategies, don’t be scared to take risks, really go for it and you will reap the rewards.

Numerology

According to Numerology, the year 2015 is an “8 Universal Year” (2+0+1+5= 8).   It’s interesting that this is also an “8” year according to Chinese astrology.  The number 8 is associated with balance, wealth and power.  It’s also said that “8” is reveals much to us about truth and knowledge.  However, you’ll notice that the strongest theme this year will be in the area of “balance”, especially in the areas of wealth, power and justice.

Imbalances that exist between the rich and poor, between genders, in religion (extremists vs moderates), the powerful and powerless… the energy this year will push for a redress of these.  Although the economy can be the most affected area during an “8” year, expect big shifts in all of these areas:  civil unrest in areas where the government is clinging to old structures of power and control, ups and downs in financial markets, large protests demanding fair treatment etc.  We have already seen this happening in 2014, and although the idea of this continuing seems very troubling, the long-term results are positive.  Re-establishing a state of balance is often not an easy thing, but in the end we will see a maturing of humanity, transformation and growth.

It should also be noted here that Saturn is the planet associated with the “8” vibration, the planet mentioned earlier that will have a huge influence on the energy of 2015. We will be pushed to take responsibility for our actions and break through illusions (both about ourselves and the world around us) so that balance can be achieved.

Also bear in mind that an “8” vibration is also about strength, endurance, the cycle of life and cause and effect.  We do have the strength to keep going, to keep learning and to emerge on the other side as better people.  Furthermore, if you are in a state of balance, you can make great things happen this year for yourself in the areas of wealth and personal power…and share these benefits with others!

In summary, we can see a common thread running through all of these forecasts:  we can expect 2015 to be a year of Yin energy, challenges and change… but with the potential for wonderful results as long as you stay balanced and focused.  All of the efforts that you have been making over the past couple of years in building for your future and achieving your goals will start paying off this year, so it can be a very exciting time!  Remember to maintain your inner balance through daily practises such as Reiki, yoga, tai chi etc. (use your self-discipline!) in order to make the most of the energy and to see you through times of ups and downs.  Take time to connect with the Earth, spend time in nature, exercise, meditate and practise your energy work… and see how wonderful you can make 2015!

Wishing all of you a fantastic year of growth, abundance, fulfilment and abundance.

Many blessings,

Chantal
